What is TDS? Or What is EDS?
TDS stands for Trump Derangement Syndrome but is also known as Trump Denial Syndrome. There’s also a variation called EDS going around that stands for Elon (Musk) Derangement Syndrome.
These syndromes are most commonly displayed by Trump/MAGA supporters and Elon Musk fans. People who suffer from these syndromes usually suffer from multiple mental illnesses as well, and will dismiss any wrongdoing done by Donald Trump or Elon Musk, even with verifiable evidence, facts, or data shown to them. Wrongdoing in this instance could be harmful policy, directly or indirectly insulting them, or adopting hypocritical or opposing stances on social issues, policies, or seemingly random things such as electric vehicles.
This is something frequently described as “moving the goal post.” They will change the original point they were supporting, in this case a policy or social issue, to a different point or further away from the original point they support, sometimes even directly opposing or contradicting the original point. This is most frequently done as a coping mechanism so they can continue to support their cult leader Trump and his “owner” Elon Musk.
They are incapable of admitting being wrong or that they were lied to. Their emotional immaturity views it as a threat to their ego causing their nervous system to react defensively. To help them absolve accountability they may:
refuse to view any evidence providing contradicting information of their leaders
make up excuses or conspiracies to deny evidence (such as saying protestors of their leaders were “bused in” and/or paid, or regurgitating lies their leaders tell them to manipulate them)
experience or display severe cognitive dissonance that allows them to feel like they are still correct (even if the hypocrisy is blatant to most sane individuals that do not suffer from TDS or EDS)
resort to name calling (such as “libtards”)
become very angry with individuals trying to educate them
project their inadequacy, cognitive dissonance, or general hypocrisy onto the side that is “opposing” them in their mind.
These syndromes are based on individuals' unwavering (and unfortunately misplaced) loyalty to their cult leader Donald Trump and or his support of Elon Musk. Due to their derangement, it’s nearly hopeless to educate them or to try to help them see things clearly.
Proceed with caution when interacting with these individuals as they can be dangerous and violent due to their derangement. Examples of this are the terrorists that suffer from TDS storming our capital on January 6th, 2021 at Donald Trump’s encouragement for his loss in the 2020 presidential election.
